being more bookish.

My new place of work has developed a nine-week training course for readers' advisory. Part of this assignment involves creating a blog and posting to it, and I just happen to have this library-themed blog created and hosted, sitting empty waiting for inspiration.

With the dawn of a new year coming at the speed of a freight train, I had been thinking of what I wanted to accomplish reading-wise anyway. I have been jonesing since September to spend some of my free time in December reading Christmas stories to help get in the spirit of the season (I think it may have been all of the "children's book Advent calendar" pins I've seen on Pinterest this fall). One of my new coworkers got to talking about the Maryland Black Eyed Susan Award nominees a few days ago, and I decided I would like to read at the very least the teen nominees, so I checked three of those out of the library this week. And next December, I would like to be able to say that I read one new book a week.

This feels like it might turn out to be a tall order. I feel as though it SHOULDN'T, but that's a lot of books for someone who has read more fanfiction than actual published printed matter over the last few years.

I have a master's degree in this stuff, for Pete's sake. It's time to get off my duff and use it already.
